Roman Catholic Territorial Prelature of Tromsø

The Territorial Prelature of Tromsø (Latin: Praelatura Territorialis Tromsoeanus) is a Roman Catholic territorial prelature located in the city of Tromsø in Norway. The territory is divided into 7 parishes located in the following sites: Tromsø, Bodø, Hammerfest, Harstad, Mosjøen, Narvik and Storfjord.

History

• April 8, 1931: Established as Mission “sui iuris” of Northern Norway from the Apostolic Vicariate of Norway
• March 10, 1944: Promoted as the Apostolic Prefecture of Northern Norway
• February 18, 1955: Promoted as the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Norway
• March 28, 1979: Promoted as Territorial Prelature of Tromsø
